Environmental pollution is the biggest menace to the human race on this planet today. It means adding impurity to environment. The environment consists of earth, water, air, plants and animals. If we pollute them, then the existence of man and nature will be hampered, short essay on environment pollution. It is true that trees are being cut down rapidly. Our earth is becoming warmer. If pollution continues, the day is not far when our earth will be a boiling pan and become a desert. Or it will be covered with sea water causing destruction of mankind. Pure air is always needed for inhaling. If we take pure air, our health improves.

On the other hand impure air causes diseases and impairs our health and causes our death. Smoke pollutes the air. It is the root of air pollution. The smoke which is discharged from industries, automobiles and kitchens is the mixture of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane etc. These are all poisonous gases. These cause lung-cancer, tuberculosis etc. which take a heavy toll of life. The glaring incident is the Bhopal gas leak in December Thousands of the residents of Bhopal died due to lungs problem which was caused by methylamine gas from the Union Carbide Plant. The garbage emitting foul smell, the decaying plants and animals also cause air pollution.

Hence the doctors advise the patients having lungs trouble to settle in some rural places because the air of villages is pure and free from population. Then comes sound pollution. The harsh sounds of buses, its, mopeds etc. affect our power of hearing and causes fart trouble. It has been reported that there are two villages named Biraspalli and Devadas Palli near Dum Dum airport m Calcutta where a large number of people have lost their power of hearing. This is because of the frequent sounds of planes coming in and short essay on environment pollution out of Dum Dum Airport. The evils of sound pollution can be imagined from this example. The water of rivers and seas is being constantly polluted all over the world by various dangerous chemical and biological wastes.

Mills and factories discharge very harmful waste waters into many rivers and sea. The water of the Ganges flowing by the side of both Varanashi and Calcutta is extremely polluted and contains all sorts of dangerous bacteria. It is really very strange and laughable that large number of the Indians regard this water as holy. They even drink this water for salvation. There is no doubt that the fish that grow in such waters are poisonous too. Reckless application of chemical fertilizers, short essay on environment pollution, insecticides and pesticides pollutes the soil.

Vegetables and fruits are quite injurious today, because they contain the poison short essay on environment pollution insecticides and pesticides. If the air we breathe, the water we drink and the soil which produces our crops, vegetables and fruits, all become more and more impure, then our chances of good health and longevity will be very less and less. Environment pollution is a serious menace to our existence. Realising the danger, we must plant trees in large number to absorb impure air. Impure water from industries can be sent back for purification and then it can be used for irrigation purpose. Our government is well aware of the fact and is taking steps to save environment from pollution, short essay on environment pollution.

Soil pollution also causes contamination of soil affecting the crop production in that particular area. There is an urgent need to control the environmental pollution by effectively controlling the production of pollutants by adopting more environment friendly policies. Use of more eco friendly fuel sources and proper collection and disposal of waste are some of the methods that could be adopted to control environmental pollution. When an unwanted toxic substance enters our otherwise pure environment, it is termed as pollution.

Environmental pollution is serious threat to the environment and its resources. Ironically, almost all of the causes of environment pollution are human induced. Below we have presented some important pollution facts for kids, to improve their knowledge. Though, the pollution affects the environment and the health of flora and fauna; it is the children who are more susceptible to it health hazards. We must take necessary steps to curb pollution in order to safeguard the health and future of our children. Environmental Pollution refers to the introduction of external pollutants into the environment.

These pollutants are primarily generated from several human activities like transportation, industrialization etc. Environmental pollution has many effects on the environment. Some of the major effects of environmental pollution are described below. Global warming refers to the rise in average surface temperature of earth. The main reason of global warming is the greenhouse effect which in turn is caused due to a large concentration of green house gases into the atmosphere. Gases like Carbon dioxide CO 2 , Water vapor H 2 O , Methane CH 4 and Nitrous Oxide N 2 O are green house gases and emitted mainly due to the fossil fuel combustion. Acid rain is another environmental degrading effect of pollution. It refers to a rain or a kind of precipitation that is acidic in nature with more concentration of Hydrogen ions, in other words the pH level of Acid Rain is low.

It is very harmful to the plants, aquatic species and buildings also. The main human induced causes of acid rain are nitrogen and sulfur compounds generated due to activities like generation of electricity, meat production industries and transportation. One of the most serious effects of environmental pollution is species depletion both on land and in water. Water pollution severely impacts the quality of water, making it toxic and harmful to live in for the aquatic animals like fishes and tortoise etc. They are highly sensitive to the pollution and often succumb to it. Land pollution and air pollution also causes the depletion of the species of flora and fauna respectively. Air pollution causes some serious respiratory ailments in humans as well as animals.

Pollution not only effects the environment, but it also threatens the very existence of life on earth. It has a large degrading effect on the environment and we must take necessary remedial measures for its prevention if we want our planet to stay healthy and green. Environmental pollution refers to the inclusion of unwanted toxic pollutants into the environment. These pollutants are mainly generated due to several human activities and causes environment degradation. Different types of pollutants lead to different types of environmental pollution which we will discuss below. Water Pollution occurs when toxic substances like chemicals, plastic and other waste enters our water resources. The pollutants could include chemicals from agricultural runoff, industrial waste, urban sewage, oil spills by boats etc.

Fresh water is very precious natural resource and must be kept clean at any cost. Air Pollution occurs when particles and other harmful gases generated due to human activities get mixed with the environmental air and causes its degradation. A main cause of the air pollution is the production and use of fossil fuels. The fossil fuel production industry produces harmful gases like SO 2 Sulphur dioxide , CO 2 Carbon dioxide etc. These gases are toxic in nature and cause other serious complications like greenhouse effects and acid rain. Urban waste consists of all type of degradable, and non degradable waste likes vegetables, waste food, plastic, hospital waste etc.

In the absence of a proper waste collection and disposal mechanism, these wastes get disposed on land resulting in land pollution. Moreover, the use of chemical fertilizers in the agricultural industry causes the chemical pollutants to get absorbed in the soil, causing soil pollution. Noise pollution is also known as sound pollution and is caused when the noise level into the environment reaches up to dangerously high level so as to interfere with normal activities of humans and animals. Transportation vehicles, heavy machineries, aircrafts are the main sources of noise pollution. Noise level is measured in Decibel dB and the permissible limit of noise as described by the World Health Organization WHO is 50 dB.

Though, in the areas of dense population, urban settlement and traffic it often reaches up to 98 dB, which is very harmful to the humans and animals. There are many types of pollution depending on the activities they are generated from; nevertheless, the ability to deal with all of them lies only with humans. It is required that we take immediate responsibility of our environment and also take necessary steps towards preventing its pollution. Everything that surrounds us constitutes the environment. It is the condition in which humans, plants, animals and other creatures live and operate. Environmental Pollution on the other hand is the introduction of unwanted and often toxic substances in to the environment. These substances are termed as pollutants and are mainly produced due to human activities.

In the following essay we will go through causes, effects and control of environmental pollution. There are many causes of environmental pollution including oil spills, burning of fossil fuels, industrial waste, use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture, use of plastic etc. for instance, the transportation industry relies on fuel like petrol and diesel that has been derived formed due to anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms. The main pollutant gas emitted when fossil fuel is burned in a transport vehicle are CO 2 Carbon dioxide and CO Carbon Monoxide. Former is a potent greenhouse gas while the latter is toxic in nature.

Similarly, the industrial waste generated in the industries throughout the world, is carelessly dumped in to the environment due to lack of proper planning and infrastructure. It pollutes our water bodies, land and is also harmful to the health of human and other living species. The effects of Environmental Pollution are on a number of factors including the human health as well as the survival and health of other living organisms, animals and plants. Air pollution causes severe respiratory ailments in humans and animals alike. Water pollution renders the water toxic and natural water resource unusable.

The environment is reducing the life expectancy of human society. Now the challenge before us is how to deal with this problem. The problem of environmental pollution is vast, so its solution should also be done on a large scale. We should travel by public vehicles instead of private vehicles. LPG stove should be used in place of the wood stove in homes. The dirty waste of the houses should not be thrown here and there. In these ways, one should contribute towards reducing environmental pollution from our side.

Environmental pollution means the inclusion of such substances in our environment, which have harmful effects on the human world, fauna, and flora. Pollution is not suitable for the environment in any way. Thousands of such activities are happening around us, which are polluting our environment. The atmosphere is getting polluted continuously due to the smoke coming out of factories and fumes from vehicles. When the amount of harmful gases in the atmosphere increases, the air becomes polluted. This is called air pollution. When chemical-rich water from factories mixes in rivers or water sources, the water becomes polluted. Apart from this, water sources get polluted due to the dumping of garbage and plastic in the cities. The land gets contaminated due to the use of excessive pesticides in the fields.

The oil keeps dripping from the vehicles plying on the roads; when this oil flows along with rainwater and mixes in the water sources, it pollutes the water. When this water reaches the fields, it destroys the fertility of the land. When a chemical company presses the chemicals under the ground, the outbreak of these chemicals falls on the land and water bodies after some time. This type of noise gives rise to stress and psychological problems. Often people working in high-noise factories lose their mental balance. Plastic has spread so much on the shores of oceans, on the banks of rivers that collecting and disposing of them seems like a challenge.

Plastic is not only killing animals, but soil pollution is also increasing. Reasons for Environmental Pollution. Industrial units are constantly engaged in creating new products to make our daily life easy and prosperous. However, the balance of the environment is deteriorating by these industrial units. Smoke from industries and factories pollutes the entire atmosphere. Apart from this, the oily hot water of the machines is released into the rivers. Harmful chemicals released from many chemical factories are buried under the ground, slowly seeping into the soil and polluting the water.

A large amount of air, water, and noise pollution are caused by vehicles. Vehicles combust large amounts of petrol and diesel. Carbon monoxide is emitted from the black smoke of vehicles. Black smoke from vehicles dissolves in the atmosphere and pollutes oxygen. All the people are migrating to the cities for the prosperity of physical facilities. Due to this, trees are being cut continuously, and forests are being converted into plains. Deforestation reduces the level of oxygen in the atmosphere. When trees are cut down, there is a danger to the life of the animals and birds living there.

The demand for food and shelter is increasing continuously due to population growth. For this reason, extensive forests are being cut. When the population of a developing country increases, chemical fertilizers are used in large quantities to meet the demand for food there, population growth causes air, land, and water pollution. Coal and diesel are used to generate electricity. Petrol and diesel are used for the operation of vehicles. Toxic gases such as CO2 and CO from the combustion of fossil fuels pollute the air, soil, and water. In order to increase the yield, the farmers are using harmful fertilizers indiscriminately. Due to this, the food obtained is becoming toxic.

Effects of Environmental Pollution essay on effects of pollution. Pollution has shaken the whole Earth. Pollution has had a lot of adverse effects on the environment. Whereas at present, only 31 percent of the forests on Earth are there. Air pollution is increasing the amount of harmful gas CO2. The high amount of CO2 increases the smog in the atmosphere, which is blocking the sunlight from reaching the Earth. essay on environment pollution and its effect on health: Deteriorating air quality has started to have a terrible effect on human health. Asthma, lung cancer, chest pain, and other respiratory diseases are side effects of air pollution.

Similarly, diseases like cholera, polio, typhoid are killing people due to contaminated water. Acid rain is causing problems like skin cancer. Chemical pollution is causing damage to the DNA structure. The emission of toxic gases is taking our environment towards global warming. Every other day some other industry is being established. New vehicles are coming on the roads. Trees are being cut. Due to these reasons, the ice of the poles is melting and increasing the water level. To stop water pollution, the sources of dirty water getting into the ponds and rivers have to be stopped. We should adopt those devices which are environmentally friendly, such as solar panels, electric vehicles, etc. What have you learned…? No one man can stop pollution, but he can start.
